Registrar |
The
City Registrar has the task of recording and maintaining all the birth
and death records that occur within the City of Paris. Each year
approximately 1,400-birth and death records are filed, and approximately
5,000 certified copies are produced by the City Registrar’s office. |

Law |
Birth
records are private and confidential and have been under Texas Law for
fifty years. Death records are private and confidential and have
been for twenty-five years and can only be obtained by qualified applicants. |
Qualified
Applicants |
A
qualified applicant is defined as the Registrant, or immediate family
member either by blood or marriage, his or her guardian, or his or her
legal representative. Local, state and federal law enforcement or
governmental agencies and other persons may be designated as properly
qualified applicants by demonstrating a direct and tangible interest in
the record when information in the record is necessary to implement a
statutory provision or to protect a personal legal property right.
A properly qualified applicant may also be any person who has submitted
an application for a request to release personal information and has been
approved as outlined in the Health and Safety Code, Section 181.11, relating
to Requests for Personal Data. |
| Obtaining
a Certificate |
Birth
and death records have been available since 1916. Certified copies of
a birth or death record can be obtained by coming to the office of the
City Clerk-City Registrar, 150 1st Street S. E., Monday - Friday,
between 8:00 A. M. and 5:00 P. M., or write to:

Requests |
If
you do not meet the definition of a qualified applicant or you simply
need to verify that a birth or death has occurred, you may request
a Verification of Birth or Death. |
| Fees |
All
fees include a search and certified copy of certificate.
The fees are nonrefundable, even if record is not found.

Birth
certificates can be issued from anywhere in Texas at a City Registrar's
office via Remote Access to the Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics.
