A Message From The Chief of Police - Karl Louis

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the home page of the Paris Police Department. We know that a safe community is the product of cooperation between the citizens and the local police department.

The Department and I stand ready to assist you, our citizens, by various programs, activities, and cooperation for the prevention, intervention, and suppression of criminal acts.  We are fortunate that the City Council and City Manager have supported all of us by assisting the department in providing the services that enhance our citizen’s safety and well-being. Whenever the department or I can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to call on us.

Mission Statement
The Paris Police Department is responsible for the preservation of human life, the public peace, protection of the rights of persons and property, the prevention of crime, and the enforcement of all Federal Laws, Texas State Laws, and code and ordinances within the boundaries of the City of Paris. Freedom from crime and disorder remains an unachieved ideal; nevertheless, it is a goal of the Paris Police Department to closely as possible approach that ideal. In so doing, the department’s role is to enforce the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the Constitutional rights of all persons. It is not the role of the Department to legislate, to render legal judgments, or to punish. The Department must direct its efforts toward broad objectives to achieve this.
