The
Parks and R.O.W. (Right of Way) Division works hard to maintain the City’s Rights
of Way and drainage ditches, as well as the Park Facilities and Aquatic Center.
Common work provided by this Division include maintaining high grass, high weeds,
and visual hazards along the streets, sidewalks, pathways, and parks to ensure
safe passage by motorists and pedestrians. What is a “RIGHT-OF-WAY?” A city R.O.W. is a strip of land that is directly behind a public road which may or may not have curb and gutter. It is approximately a distance of 11 feet from the edge of the pavement. For example, most water meters are located in the city R.O.W. close to the street. The seam of a concrete driveway approach is also a good indication of the depth of a right of way and it is the responsibility of each property owner or resident to maintain the portion of the right of way on his or her property that requires mowing or sweeping. |
