Municipal Code

Anyone with Internet access can now easily view local laws. The City of Paris’s Code of Ordinances is now available online.

Hard copies of the City’s Code of Ordinances are also available for review in the City Clerk’s Office or at the Paris Public Library located at 326 South Main Street.

Primary Responsibilities

The City Clerk’s office provides administrative support to the City Council, City Manager and City staff. In combination with the City Manager’s office, the City Clerk’s office prepares and distributes all the City Council agenda packets and keeps accurate minutes of all City Council proceedings.

Additional Responsibilities

Local Registrar – responsible for handling all birth and death records and reporting to State Bureau of Vital Statistics.

Records Manager – serves as the custodian of city records including City Council minutes, resolutions, ordinances, contracts, and other documents vital to the history of the city; performs research of records for the City Council, staff and public.

City Elections – receives and processes candidate applications; prepares candidate packets; and tracks deadlines pursuant to State Law. Other aspects of city elections are managed by the City Clerk through the Lamar County Elections Administrator.

Alcohol Beverage Applications for businesses and restaurants – processes applications and certifies prequalification packets.

Civic Involvement – assists the City Council in promoting recruitment of city boards and commissions. Download the Application (PDF).
