Deconstruction Program

When homes and commercial buildings are determined to be reasonably beyond repair, the Code Enforcement Division will work through all legal requirements to demolish substandard structures. The City of Paris Deconstruction Program is designed to encourage the recycling of building materials and fixtures from structures set for demolition.

In many cases, the materials available for reclamation may be antique or unique to this region of the country. Some examples are windows, doors, door knobs, hinges, shiplap, handrails, banisters, plumbing and lighting fixtures, moldings, appliances, and furniture.

Allowing deconstruction encourages recycling, decreases materials sent to landfills, and reduces demolition costs.
