1. When will CARDS begin trash pick-up in the City of Paris?

CARDS became the residential trash pick-up provider in the City of Paris on February 5, 2024, and the Commercial trash service provider on Sept. 1, 2024.

2. How many times a week will my trash be collected?

Trash will be collected once per week per customer.

3. When is my pick-up day?

Use this interactive map to search for your address. If you need help determining your pick-up day, call 877-592-2737.

4. Where should I put my cart for pick-up?

Place cart(s) at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your pick-up day. Put containers on a hard, flat surface clear of obstructions such as landscaping, mailboxes, or utility poles. Do not block sidewalks. Carts should be removed from the curbside by 11:00 p.m. after being emptied.

5. What happens when there is a holiday?

When a holiday occurs on a weekday, your collection day will be on a one-day delay. For example, suppose your regular pick-up is on Tuesday after a Monday holiday. In that case, your pick-up will be on Wednesday and return to normal the following week unless there is another holiday beforehand.

If a holiday falls on a weekend, there will be no service delay.

Pick-up days before a holiday will remain unchanged.

CARDS will notify customers at least two weeks before a holiday affecting regular pick-up schedules.

6. Should I contact the City of Paris or CARDS if I have a question?

7. Will CARDS haul off my old trash can?

If your old trash can will fit in your cart, yes, CARDS will remove it as trash. If your old trash can will not fit inside your cart, please call CARDS at 877-592-2737.

8. Why wasn't my cart or extra waste picked up?

If your trash was out by 7:00 a.m. but was not picked up by 7:00 p.m., contact CARDS at 877-592-2737.

All household trash should be in the cart. Up to three cubic yards of bulk items may be left outside the cart for free collection on each regular pick-up day.

Additional carts are available for $7.00 each per month. Contact the City of Paris Water Utilities Billing Department to request additional carts.

9. By what time should the cart be at the curb?

Please have your trash out by 7:00 a.m. on your trash day and no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day before pick-up. Carts should be removed from the curbside by 11:00 p.m. after being emptied.

10. Will CARDS return to my address if I forget to put my trash out on time?

If CARDS drivers are still in the area, they can assist you. Otherwise, there will be a fee to come back.

12. How do I set out bulky trash or brush?

Your weekly pick-up includes three cubic yards of bulk trash or tied and bundled brush for free, and bulk trash does not have to be in the cart. Items like paint, gas, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, construction or demolition materials, or other hazardous items are unacceptable for cart pick-up service. Three cubic yards is about the same space that an average washer and dryer would occupy or 3' x 3' x 9' in area.

13. How much does a bulky or brush pick-up cost?

CARDS will collect up to three cubic yards of bulk trash for no additional charge on your regular pick-up day. If you have more than three cubic yards, contact CARDS. CARDS will evaluate each bulky or brush pick-up request on a case-by-case basis and provide the pick-up cost. Please contact CARDS at 877-592-2737 to make arrangements.

Residents may also drop off limbs and tree debris twice per month free of charge at the City of Paris Compost Site at 705 Field Road. A current water bill and photo ID with the same address as the water bill is required to use this service.

Residents can drop off up to four cubic yards of trash free each month at the Sanitation Solutions Dump Station on Evergreen Street. A City of Paris water bill for the current month and a photo ID are required for this service.

14. My poly cart has been vandalized or damaged. What do I do?

18. What if I'm moving, do I take my cart to my new address?

Please leave your cart(s) at your former address. If you are moving to a different address in the City of Paris and there are no carts at the new residence, contact the City of Paris Water Utilities Billing Department.

19. Can I order additional garbage collection carts?

Additional carts are available for $7.00 per month. Contact the City of Paris Water Utilities Billing Department to request additional carts.

20. Can I exchange my collection cart?

21. What if my garbage cart lid or body is broken? How do I get a replacement?

22. What if I miss garbage collection day?

23. Can I place items outside of the collection cart?

24. What items can I place in the cart?

You can place typical household trash like paper, lawn debris, clothing, bottles, cans, food scraps and plastics in the cart. Each cart will hold approximately six to seven kitchen-sized trash bags. Hot items, like hot cooking grease or hot ashes, should not be placed in the cart. Items like paint, gas, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, construction or demolition materials, or other hazardous items are unacceptable for cart pick-up service.

25. How do I dispose of appliances?

Any appliance such as a freezer, refrigerator, water cooler, dehumidifier, air conditioner, or any device containing refrigerants must be tagged, certifying that a certified refrigerant technician removed all refrigerant before placement for pick up. Any appliance larger than three cubic yards may require an additional pick-up charge. All bulk items, including appliances, set out for pick up must total less than three cubic yards per week, or additional charges may apply. 26. What items will NOT be collected?

Items like paint, gas, hazardous chemicals, medical waste, construction or demolition materials, or other hazardous items are unacceptable for cart pick-up service.

27. What size and how much can be set out for collection?

You may fill each 96-gallon cart that is assigned to your address. Each cart will hold approximately six to seven kitchen-sized trash bags.

28. We are a retail store, church, or nonprofit agency. Will we receive a cart or dumpster, and how will we be billed?

CARDS will determine if a cart or dumpster is best for each commercial customer. CARDS will bill all non-residential customers inside the city limits directly. Click to learn more.

29. What service assistance can be provided for citizens who cannot push a poly cart to the curb?

30. Will drop-off recycling still be available?

Residents may still drop off recyclables at the City of Paris Compost Site at 705 Field Road.

31. Will there be a charge or deposit for the cart?

There will be no deposit, and CARDS will provide a cart for each customer at no cost. If a cart is lost or stolen, there will be a $75 charge to replace the cart. If a cart is broken or vandalized, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost.

32. Will the carts be marked with my address, or can I paint my address on the cart?

Carts will be marked with a serial number and assigned to your address. You should make note of your serial number for instances when carts are misplaced. Painting or marking the carts in any way is unacceptable.

33. What should I do if my cart is damaged, lost, or stolen?

Broken or vandalized carts will be repaired or replaced by CARDS. If a cart is lost or stolen, there is a $75 charge for replacement. Contact CARDS at 877-592-2737 to arrange a repair or replacement.

34. How do I dispose of leaves in the fall?

Additional carts are available for seasonal lawn debris for $7.00 each per month.

Yard waste will be collected every week on your service day. Loose yard waste and lawn trimmings must be placed in biodegradable brown kraft bags and set out for pickup. The bags are available from most home improvement and major retail stores. Most bags hold up to 30 gallons of loose yard waste.

Residents may also drop off up to four cubic yards of trash free each month at the Sanitation Solutions Dump Station on Evergreen Street. A City of Paris water bill for the current month and a photo ID are required for this service.

35. Will limbs and branches that fall during storms be picked up for free?

CARDS will collect up to three cubic yards of bulky items or limbs each week. Please contact CARDS at 877-592-2737 for amounts over three cubic yards.

37. Can residents continue to take furniture and appliances to the Sanitation Solutions Dump Station on Evergreen Street?

Residents may take up to four cubic yards of furniture, appliances, or other bulky items to the Sanitation Solutions Dump Station free each month. All compressors and refrigerants must be removed from appliances, and no hazardous waste is accepted. A current month's City of Paris water bill and a photo ID are required to utilize this free service.

38. Will CARDS host a hazardous waste drop-off day for city residents?

CARDS is not required by contract to host any hazardous waste drop-off events.

39. How do I dispose of unused paint?

Paint is considered hazardous waste. CARDS does not accept unused paint.

40. What do I do if I can't lift my trash into my cart?

Please contact CARDS at 877-592-2737 to request hardship collection service if no one in your household can load or move the cart.

42. What is the difference between household trash and bulk trash?

Household trash is the waste products from day-to-day living. All household trash must be inside the poly cart for collection.

Brush means any cuttings or trimmings from trees, shrubs, lawns, and similar materials not exceeding four feet in length or four inches in diameter.

Bulk or bulky waste means large rubbish items including, but not limited to, white goods*, bicycles, furniture, rugs, mattresses, televisions, fence material, auto parts, and other similar oversized items that are customary to ordinary housekeeping operations of a residential unit.

CARDS will collect up to 3 cubic yards of brush or bulk waste for free on your regular collection day. Residents can leave bulk trash outside of the poly cart.

*"White goods" means refrigerators, stoves and ranges, water heaters, clothes washers and dryers, freezers, swing sets, bicycles (without tires), scrap metal, copper, and other similar domestic and commercial large appliances.

43. How much is three cubic yards of bulk trash?

Three cubic yards is approximately three feet wide, three feet tall, and nine feet long. (3ft x 3 ft x 9 ft)
