The Citizen's Police Academy program was started to educate our citizens about the inner workings of the police department. It was also viewed as an opportunity for our citizens to provide feedback about what they saw a need for in the manner of police services in the community.
Topics covered in the class include Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Communications, 9-1-1 Service, Narcotics, SWAT, Training, Animal Shelter Operations and Constitutional Law.
Class 2020-11 will begin on January 21, 2020, Tuesday evening at 5:45 PM. The classes are held every Tuesday for seven weeks at the police department in the Emergency Operations Center. Classes begin at 5:45 PM and are usually finished by 9:00 PM. There is also one Saturday class where students are taken to the firing range for demonstrations.
